President Biya Put Smiles on Mbankolo Mudslide Survivors

The Minister of Territorial Administration, Atanga Nji Paul, on instructions from the presidential couple, has offered relief material to 57 families, displaced by floods, this October 13th 2023. They are persons hit by floods at Mbankolo, Yaounde on October 8, 2023. The distribution of relief material coincided with the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction. Thus before handing items, the Minister called on affected persons to prevent disaster by respecting safe environmental rules especially construction norms, quitting water ways, wet lands and do proper waste disposal. He offered them financial and material assistance including rice, towels, soap, buckets, sardines and blankets. The minister had a word of courage to some 42 families who willingly accepted to quit the dangerous zone at Mbankolo, telling them that, they shall be accompanied by the state in acquiring new homes. Minister Atanga Nji further called on the population to feel free to present their problems for solution to administrative and local authorities. Ayissi Eloundou Yannick Martial is the Mayor of Yaounde II who on behalf of flood survivors thanked the Minister for the kind gesture. On hand to accompany the Minister for the humanitarian action were staff from the Department of Civil Protection of MINAT, the S.G to the Governor of the Center Region, the SDO of Yaounde II and the Divisional Officer.
